Camden County Pipe and Drum Band Collects Toys for Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey

Camden, NJ (PRWEB) November 9, 2005 -- The Camden County Emerald Society Pipe and Drums Band, comprised of active and retired police, fire fighters, paramedics and former members of the military, are spearheading a drive to collect toys to distribute to sick children who will be staying at Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey this holiday season.

The Camden home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill or injured children being treated at nearby hospitals, is organizing its first “Holiday Secret Shop.” The shop will be stocked with toys for parents to select from to surprise their children and also with gifts for the children to present to their parents.

The musicians, who volunteer their time playing their traditional bagpipe and drum music at various fundraisers for police survivors and at services for fallen officers and servicemen, have established four drop-off points for the holiday donations and will even pick up gifts, if necessary.

“We ask for new toys valued at at least $10 and for a full range of ages from babies through teens,” said Ed Harder of Washington Township, band president. He listed the drop-off points for toys:
    -Gloucester City Fire Department on North King Street;
    -Camden County Fire Department at Broadway and Library;
    -EMT Squad Hall, Winslow Twp., Rt. 70 and Myers Rd. and
    -Westmont Fire Co, 120 Haddon Ave.

“We know that families who have traveled far from home because of a child’s illness simply don’t have the time, the energy, or the finances to shop for holiday gifts, especially being so far from home,” explained Teddy Thomas, executive director of Ronald McDonald House. “That’s why we do everything possible to make this time of year as festive and stress-free as possible. Having extraordinary volunteers like the Pipe and Drum Band and the many people who we hope will respond to their toy drive, makes it possible for us to brighten these families’ lives,” she added.

The band will be performing at the Ronald McDonald House on December 8 to during the official kick-off of the holiday season and tree-lighting celebration.

Try Ceremonial Drums For Unique Rustic Interior Design
I gave my home that great, southwestern look by adding ceremonial drums to my rustic decor. I was so happy with the authentic, southwest style that the Native American drums brought to my home, that I started researching and reading about the history and the important role they play in Indigenous cultures. If you are like me, you have probably seen how significant ceremonial drums are to the Native culture but do not realize their importance in tribal ceremonies or how exactly they are used. Each tribe is unique in how they use ceremonial drums but one similarity between each tribe is that the Native drums are very symbolic and part of the main focus of the ceremony. Throughout my research, I have found that learning about these drums truly...

Drum Dispensers
One of the easiest ways of reducing costs in any workplace is by getting the most out of any materials and minimizing wastage. When you are using 55 gallon drums for storage of liquids, a pump will always leave a certain amount of liquid inside the bottom of the barrel, and without appropriate equipment such as a drum dispenser on hand, this liquid at the bottom of the drum will unfortunately be wasted.

Drum Compactors
Although 55 gallon drums are one of the most versatile and useful storage mediums that are available for the industrial environment, there comes a time when they reach the end of their useful life, and their size and bulk actually becomes a major disadvantage when it comes to disposal, and it is necessary to make them smaller in order to process them for recycling or disposal depending on what their contents were. A specially designed single drum compactor is an extremely useful and cost saving piece of equipment that will soon pay for itself in terms of reducing the cost of material disposal through a third party company,

Use Native Drums As Rustic Tables To Create Southwestern Style
Do you love rustic furniture and decor? Native drums used as rustic tables are a beautiful way to bring real southwestern design and enhance western style in your home. Along with the traditional playing purposes of Indian drums in drumming groups and circles, you can use them to add beautiful, southwestern style to any room in your home. I recently changed my home decor, using one of a kind pieces of log furniture to give it an interesting southwestern feel, and found that adding a Native American drum coffee table and drum end table together with other country western accessories, looked very nice as accent pieces to my rustic furnishings.

Use Shaman Drums For Unique Western Decorating
Looking for a simple way to give your home decor southwestern or country design? Try including Shaman drums along with your western home furnishings like I did. My love for these unique, American Indian drums started right after my husband and I purchased our new home last year. We knew that because of our love for the old west, we wanted true southwestern and Native American style home decor with unique rustic home furnishings. Once that was determined I started filling my new home with unique western and Native American pieces that would match my southwest decor and entertain my guests by telling a story at the same time. That is when I discovered how easy it was to give my home that beautiful country style that you see in designer home m...

55 Gallon Drum Storage Racks
When you are first tooling up an industrial unit or factory, getting the most cost effective and scalable solutions for all your storage needs has to be a priority. While you are aware that over time, as capacity and productivity levels rise, you must also remember that early investment in products that will lie idle for months is a bad move that diverts funds from more pressing issues. One such area is your requirement for 55 gallon drum storage racks. While the drums remain the most important liquid storage medium that your business will use, the amount that you will need to hold in stores will rise over time as your business grows. With this in mind, it is important to find a storage medium that will allow you to build up the volume of s...
